Arts Council new board members

The North Thompson Arts Council held its Annual General Meeting on September 12, 2011, at the Little Fort Hall, with 15 members present.
Frank Gordon ran the elections, which ended with the following members being elected:
President – Jessie Maisonneuve
Vice-President – Josie Wilson
Secretary – Margaret Houben
Treasurer – Bob Stirling
Directors – Sylvia Chivers, Tammy Marsel, Charlene Lau, Bob Bambrick, and Colleen Lyons
Celebration of Art coming in 34 days

In just over a month Barriere will be filled with artists and artisans from across the area as they present their creations to the public.
The 4th Annual Barriere Celebration of the Arts will take place on June 25 and 26, on the grass at Barr K Treats, from 10 a.m.– 4 p.m. both days.
3rd Wildfire Dragon Music and Art Festival set for July

It will be another celebration of outstanding music, art, and community unity on July 23 and 24, when the Wildfire Dragon Monument site at Louis Creek hosts its third music and art festival. The event is presented by the McLure Wildfire Monument Society, which is a registered charity who created and maintain the site.
Semrick known for “true life” wildlife paintings

A long time resident of the small town of Barriere, B.C., Katherine Semrick has won several awards at local competitions and her works adorn the walls of private collectors throughout the North Thompson Valley, Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Washington State.
Working with an airbrush and acrylic paint, her attention to detail and passion for realism are quickly gaining recognition throughout the Pacific Northwest for the magnificent “true life” wildlife paintings.
NT Arts Council plans for a busy year

The North Thompson Arts Council (NTAC) will be having a busy year this year. First up are several workshops. One on cake decorating, April 28, and another on card making on May 19. (See community events on page 16 of this paper for more information.) NTAC hopes to have more workshops throughout the year, but are looking for suggestions on what members would like to see.
